Sunday @ the Getty Villa

The past weekend brought another spell of confused weather, filled with blazing sun and summer-like heat, only to be followed by mean cold nights and skirt-raising gales. Not knowing what mother nature might throw next, I donned a sweater and threw on the stockings for a classy day of culture at the Getty Villa in Malibu. At a balmy 75 degrees. Great.

Gardens, architecture and colorful marble are the heavyweights here. That, and all the Grecian jugs your heart could ever want for. Every shape and size imaginable in a rainbow of…black and terracotta. And enough nudes to compete with Deep Creek Hot Springs.

I had the pleasure on my mom’s company on this adventure, and we had fun roaming the complex, goggling pieces of history that were thousands of years old. When our feet tired we relaxed at their (delicious, if expectedly overpriced) cafe with wine, salads and sandwiches. A perfect Sunday.

I love family bonding.

Admission free, parking $15. Take the Metro and pay only your bus fare!
